Cindy Tompkins is a lifelong resident of Sumter County. Upon graduating from South Sumter High School in 1969, Cindy went to work in the private sector. She then went on to work for the Sumter County School System as a bus driver. After working for the School System for 10 years, Cindy then worked with Sumter County Solid Waste for 18 years. Cindy has been married to her best friend and husband, Mike, for 20 years. She is the proud mother of one son, Kenny Hunt. Kenny lives in Lake Panasoffkee, with his wonderful wife and two beautiful children.
Cindy is involved in her community through her church. She helps in reaching out to others through the church’s various programs. Some of the programs the church provides are the Hope Center where food and clothes are distributed to the needy, the pregnancy center where assistance and guidance is given to unwed or single parents, and through mission trips. The mission trips are not only to other countries but to help people here in the United States.
After entering the world of real estate in 2005, Cindy has proven through the years to be an aggressive and results oriented Realtor. She is both extremely knowledgeable and experienced in short sales, foreclosures, traditional sales, as well as the ins and outs of today’s market. We are very happy to announce that Dwayne got his real estate license this past year! We also had the wonderful experience of celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary as well as the birth of our eighth grandchild and our first great grandchild! The past year has been full of blessings for us and our family.
I have been in the real estate business for over 14 years and I have been telling Dwayne for a number of years he should get license. Well he did and we are super excited to tell y'all that we are now working together as Real Estate partners! Jessica Duteau, Broker Associate
Jessica Duteau, was born and raised in Sumter County. She is the daughter of DarLinda and Jerry Duteau. Jerry owned and operated an auto parts store in Webster. DarLinda’s parents came to Florida from the hills of Kentucky in 1957. Her father, DB Boyatt works as an Electrician and her mother, Peggy Boyatt, is a retired school teacher. Jerry and DarLinda were both born and raised in Sumter and raised Jessica and her sister, Julia in Sumter as well.
Jessica attended South Sumter High and graduated in 2001. She then attended Saint Leo University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2006. Jessica has worked for the State of Florida for the past 10 years.
Jessica’s strongest ability is to work to meet the needs of her clients. She is passionate about her community and strives to help all for the greater good. She has a strong knowledge of the local market having grown and lived in the area all her life. Her lifelong commitment to Sumter has produced a vast array of contacts in and around the community.

Samantha Merritt, PSA, Realtor
Samantha Merritt is a Realtor with Connie Mahan Real Estate Group.
The consummate go-getter, Samantha Merritt has a reputation for being the girl who gets things done. She began her career in the hospitality industry in her hometown of Sumter County managing multi-million dollar clients and leading an award winning team.
After ten years in hospitality management, Samantha began work for the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce. Her passion for community building and intuitive business-to-business skills led to her eventual appointment as Executive Director of the organization. To-date, she has been the youngest Executive Director in the history of the 100 year organization. While under her leadership, the chamber doubled in membership size, increased sponsor revenue by 300 percent, and she created and oversaw large-scale tourism based events that drew thousands of visitors to Sumter County.
Upon resigning from the Sumter County Chamber, Samantha went on to manage website development and multi-media products for local government entities, economic development firms, and multi-million dollar companies in her role as Project Manager at Tangent Media. Tangent Media provided opportunities for her to learn new practices, such as attaining her Google Certification, and leverage her existing skill set in event production for tourism clients.
As a third generation resident, Samantha has spent her career investing in the growth and enrichment of Sumter County. Her experience leading the county’s only chamber of commerce and her working relationship with both tourism and economic development have given her a unique and unparalleled perspective on the market. Samantha’s passion for Sumter County led her to obtain her real estate license in 2017, and she proudly joined the team at Connie Mahan Real Estate Group. Her wealth of experience and abundant local resources combined with her infectious smile and quick-wit have proven to be a winning combination for her clients.
Samantha is a graduate of Leadership Sumter class of 2013 and a recipient of the “Top 40 Under 40 of Lake and Sumter award. She serves as Committeewoman and Secretary of the Sumter County Republican Executive Committee. She is on the Board of Directors of the Sumter Youth Center where she also serves as Secretary. Samantha is a member of the Realtors Association of Lake and Sumter Counties where she serves on the Realtor Political Action Committee and the Governmental Affairs Committee. She is also a member of the Sumter County Farm Bureau.
Samantha has had a life-long love affair with sunshine and spends as much free time as she can outdoors. She enjoys cycling and running and can often be found competing in races across Central Florida. Of all the titles Samantha has had throughout her career, “Mom” is her favorite. She has a 16 year old son Cameron who attends South Sumter High School and an 11 year old daughter Avery who attends South Sumter Middle School.

Nathan Overstreet Sales Agent
Nate Overstreet has been a Central Florida resident his entire life. Born in Orlando, his family decided to move out of the hustle and bustle of the big city and into Howey-in-the-Hills located in Lake County when he was thirteen years old. He attended Tavares Middle and High School where he found his first love of athletics, specifically football and weightlifting. Once graduation came Nate received a football scholarship to Cumberland College (now named University of the Cumberlands) in South Eastern Kentucky where he continued his love of athletics and education until he graduated with a major in Social Work/Sociology and a minor in Psychology.
After returning home as a college graduate, his first employment was with the Department of Children and Families as a Child Protection Investigator. Just one year into his employment he was approached with the opportunity to study and practice in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis. After completing enough graduate level work he began practicing as a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst working with individuals with developmental disabilities in Lake, Sumter, Marion, Citrus, and Hernando Counties.
In 2006 Nate became the proud father of his first son Jonathan Edward Overstreet (Jon ED) and decided to take a more parent schedule friendly position as a Representative of the Department of Health in Sumter County. In February of 2009 Nate was recruited to become the Director of Development and Community Relations for Langley Health Services. Just two months later he was blessed with the birth of his second son Wyatt Edward Overstreet.
Nate is now also a Licensed Real Estate Consultant with the Connie Mahan Real Estate Group located in Bushnell, FL providing services and solutions to clients pursuing real estate transactions in Lake and Sumter Counties. This allows him to help others find the joy and happiness he has found in raising a family, and enjoying all that can be found in beautiful central Florida.
